The Adler Tippa, made in Western Germany in 1968, is a compact and reliable portable typewriter from one of Europe’s most respected manufacturers. Known for its precision engineering and minimalist mid-century design, the Tippa 1 combines a lightweight body with the sturdy mechanics typical of German craftsmanship.

This machine features a QWERTY (Spanish) keyboard layout, complete with keys for "ñ", "ç", and two accent marks — acute (´), grave (`). These allow you to type accented characters such as á, è. Please see photos of the keyboard for additional special characters.

This typewriter is fitted with Ro 84 type slugs, an Elite-pitch (11 CPI) typeface produced by the German foundry Ransmayer and Rodrian. It belongs to the Elite-Schatten series but stands apart from other variants through its varying line thickness. As shown in the typing sample photo, the letters feature thicker main strokes and finer secondary strokes rather than a single uniform weight. This subtle contrast gives the type a refined, decorated, and classical appearance, very much in the spirit of the Bodoni typeface found on Olivetti machines and the Congress typeface used by Olympia.

This typewriter is in very good cosmetic conditions with only minor marks and discoloration. Please refer to the listing photos. All keys, margins, line spacing, and ribbon functions operate properly. Basic cleaning and adjustments have been performed to ensure a smooth and responsive typing experience. The original carrying case shows age-appropriate signs of wear and is included; it remains fully functional, as shown in the last photo. A new ribbon has been installed, and fresh ribbons can be purchased separately.
