This Hermes Baby typewriter dates to around 1970, from the later years of the model’s production. Finished in a classic green body with contrasting white keys, it reflects the clean, refined design that made the Hermes Baby a favorite among writers and journalists. Lightweight, compact, and beautifully made, it was designed as a true travel companion — offering smooth, reliable typing in a timeless portable form.
This machine has an AZERTY (French) layout, including keys for "è", "é", "ç", "à", "ù" and two accent marks — diaeresis (¨) and circumflex (^). You can type accented characters such as ü and â. Please check the keyboard photos for additional special symbols.
This Hermes typewriter features the Techno Pica typeface, a clean and highly legible sans-serif style widely used on Swiss machines in the mid-20th century. Unlike traditional serif designs, Techno Pica emphasizes uniform stroke widths and balanced geometric letterforms, reflecting the influence of modernist typography and the clarity associated with Swiss design. On the page, it produces crisp, even impressions with a distinctly contemporary character, giving typed text a precise, architectural look reminiscent of mid-century design, technical documents, and modernist printed materials.
This typewriter is in very good cosmetic condition, with some small marks on the plastic casing. Please review the photos carefully. All keys, margins, line spacing, and ribbon mechanisms are functional. Basic cleaning and adjustments have been performed to ensure a smooth typing experience. The original carrying case is in good overall condition, showing wear consistent with age. A functional ribbon is already installed, and additional ribbons can be purchased separately.
