This Hermes Media 3 in the classic green body with contrasting white keys dates to around 1969, representing one of the later all-metal iterations before the transition to plastic-bodied designs. Made by Paillard S.A., it reflects the brand’s long-standing reputation for precision engineering and exceptional build quality. Part of the same design family as the renowned Hermes 3000, the Media 3 is often considered its more minimalist counterpart, offering the same smooth and responsive typing experience while omitting features such as the tabulator and touch control system for a more streamlined, writer-focused design. Its clean, architectural form paired with the distinctive green and white color scheme gives the machine a refined yet timeless presence, a beautiful example of mid-century Swiss industrial design where clarity, function, and craftsmanship come together seamlessly.
This machine features a QWERTY (Spanish) keyboard layout, complete with keys for "ñ", and four accent marks — acute (´), grave (`), diaeresis (¨), and circumflex (^). These allow you to type accented characters such as á, è, ü, and â. Please see the photo of the keyboard for other special characters.
**Custom keyboard layouts are available upon request; please inquire for pricing and lead time.
This Hermes typewriter features the Techno Pica typeface, a clean and highly legible sans-serif style widely used on Swiss machines in the mid-20th century. Unlike traditional serif designs, Techno Pica emphasizes uniform stroke widths and balanced geometric letterforms, reflecting the influence of modernist typography and the clarity associated with Swiss design. On the page, it produces crisp, even impressions with a distinctly contemporary character, giving typed text a precise, architectural look reminiscent of mid-century design, technical documents, and modernist printed materials.
This machine is in very good cosmetic condition, showing only minor marks around the corners from normal use, along with a small paint imperfection on the rear of the body. Please review the listing photos carefully. All keys, margins, line spacing, and ribbon functions operate properly. Detailed cleaning and adjustments have been performed to ensure a smooth and responsive typing experience. The carrying case is fully functional, with marks consistent with age. A new ribbon has been installed, and fresh ribbons can be purchased separately.
