This Hermes Media 3 in the iconic rounded seafoam green body was produced in Switzerland around 1965 by Paillard S.A. in Yverdon, during the golden age of Swiss typewriter manufacturing. Part of the same design family as the famous Hermes 3000, the Media 3 is often considered its minimalist counterpart — built with the same exceptional precision, smooth typing action, and mechanical quality, but without the tabulator or touch control system. The softly curved seafoam green shell gives the machine a distinctive mid-century elegance, while its simplified design reflects a philosophy of pure function: all the refinement of a classic Hermes distilled into a clean, writer-focused portable.
This machine has an AZERTY (French) layout, including keys for "è", "é", "ç", "à", "ù" and two accent marks — diaeresis (¨) and circumflex (^). You can type accented characters such as ü and â. Please check the keyboard photos for additional special symbols.
**Custom keyboard layouts are available upon request; please inquire for pricing and lead time.
This Hermes typewriter features the Techno Pica typeface, a clean and highly legible sans-serif style widely used on Swiss machines in the mid-20th century. Unlike traditional serif designs, Techno Pica emphasizes uniform stroke widths and balanced geometric letterforms, reflecting the influence of modernist typography and the clarity associated with Swiss design. On the page, it produces crisp, even impressions with a distinctly contemporary character, giving typed text a precise, architectural look reminiscent of mid-century design, technical documents, and modernist printed materials.
This machine is in very good cosmetic condition, showing some minor marks on the surface. Please review the listing photos carefully. All keys, margins, and ribbon functions operate properly. Detailed cleaning and adjustments have been performed to ensure a smooth and responsive typing experience. The carrying case is fully functional, with marks consistent with age. A new ribbon has been installed, and fresh ribbons can be purchased separately.
