About this lamp: A sculptural postmodern table lamp designed by Isao Hosoe for Luxo. The Picchio, Italian for “woodpecker,” features a distinctive architectural silhouette with a tapered cylindrical base supporting a sharply angled horizontal light arm. The form is compact yet expressive, balancing industrial function with geometric clarity.
Originally conceived as a task lamp, the Picchio reflects late 20th century Italian design thinking: precise, mechanical, and subtly playful without unnecessary ornamentation. The navy/charcoal base anchors the composition, while the silver head introduces contrast and directional focus.
