About this lamp:
A sculptural postmodern table lamp designed by Isao Hosoe for Luxo. The Picchio, Italian for “woodpecker,” features a distinctive architectural silhouette with a tapered cylindrical base supporting a sharply angled horizontal light arm. The form is compact yet expressive, balancing industrial function with geometric clarity.

Originally conceived as a task lamp, the Picchio reflects late 20th century Italian design thinking: precise, mechanical, and subtly playful without unnecessary ornamentation. The navy/charcoal base anchors the composition, while the silver head introduces contrast and directional focus.

Designed for practical use, the adjustable arm provides controlled illumination, making it well suited for desk work, reading, or studio environments. Its clean geometry and restrained color palette allow it to integrate seamlessly into postmodern, minimalist, or contemporary interiors.
