This Olivetti Lettera 35, made in Spain in the 1970s, continues the legacy of Olivetti’s celebrated portable line — elegant, efficient, and thoughtfully designed for everyday writers. Created under the direction of Mario Bellini, one of Italy’s most renowned industrial designers, the Lettera 35 blends clean modern lines with the technical precision that embodied Olivetti’s golden era. The warm beige body gives it a classic, understated charm.
This machine features a QWERTY keyboard layout, complete with keys for "ñ", "ç", and four accent marks — acute (´), grave (`), diaeresis (¨), and circumflex (^). These allow you to type accented characters (such as: á, è, ü, â). Please see the keyboard photo for other special characters.
It features a very cute san serif typeface (font) called "Quadrato"— a geometric “techno” style font created by Arturo Rolfo in 1963. Introduced during a new wave of modernist design in the 1960s, Quadrato became one of Olivetti’s most iconic typefaces. Its clean, sans-serif lines embody the sleek, forward-looking spirit of mid-century industrial design — perfectly complementing the precision and modernity of the machine itself.
This typewriter is in very good cosmetic conditions with some wear on the exterior metal casing. Please review the listing photos carefully. All keys, margins, ribbon, and line spacing functions operate properly. The machine has been cleaned and tested, delivering a smooth typing experience with effortless keystrokes and a clear bell. The carrying case is in good condition, with wear consistent with age. A new ribbon has been installed, and additional fresh ribbons are available for purchase separately.
