The Olivetti Lettera 31 is a compact portable typewriter that makes an instant impression with its eye-catching blue and gray body and sharp Italian design. Beneath its vibrant exterior, it houses the exact same proven mechanism as the Olivetti Valentine, Dora, and Underwood 315, delivering a crisp, responsive keystroke with effortless flow. Combining bold mid-century character with everyday reliability, the Lettera 31 delivers classic Olivetti performance wrapped in a standout, stylish aesthetic.
This machine features a QWERTY (Spanish) keyboard layout, complete with keys for "ñ", "ç", and four accent marks — acute (´), grave (`), diaeresis (¨), and circumflex (^). These allow you to type accented characters such as á, è, ü, and â.
The classic Olivetti Pica is a timeless serif typeface with elegant, highly readable letterforms. It produces crisp, refined text that is perfect for letters, journals, and everyday writing.
This typewriter is in good cosmetic condition. Noticeable imperfections are shown in photos: mainly some small scuff marks on the surface and a yellow mark on the left side of the machine. Please pay close attention to the listing photos. All keys, margins, line spacing, and ribbon functions operate properly. Basic cleaning and adjustments have been performed to ensure a smooth and responsive typing experience. A carrying bag with Olivetti monogram, showing wear consistent with age, is available as an add-on for this typewriter. A functional ribbon has been installed, and fresh ribbons can be purchased separately.
