This Olympia SF (SuperFlat), made in Germany in 1957, is an early example of Olympia’s innovative approach to portable typewriter design. Remarkably slim for its time, it was engineered to offer true portability without compromising precision or build quality. Its low-profile metal body, restrained modernist lines, and crisp, responsive typing action reflect the high standards of postwar German engineering, representing Olympia’s early approach to ultra-portable design.
This machine has a Qwertz (German) layout, including keys for "ü", "ß", "ö", "ä", and two accent marks — acute (´), grave (`). These allow you to type accented characters (such as: á and è). Please check the keyboard photos for additional special symbols.
Olympia Elite features sharp, well-defined letterforms and excellent readability. Clean and dependable, it produces crisp, professional-looking text that is perfect for letters, journals, and everyday writing.
This typewriter is in very good cosmetic condition, with some small surface scratch marks. Please pay close attention to the listing photos. All keys, margins, line spacing, and ribbon functions operate properly. Basic cleaning and adjustments have been performed to ensure a smooth and responsive typing experience. The original carrying case is fully functional and shows some wear and tear consistent with age. A new ribbon has been installed and additional fresh ribbons can be purchased separately.
