This is a vintage Wittner mechanical metronome produced in West Germany during the 1980s, a period when Wittner was internationally recognized for its precision and reliability. Designed in the classic Maëlzel pyramid form, this model reflects a later evolution in materials, featuring a black plastic body finished in a warm woodgrain pattern.
The wind-up mechanical movement delivers a steady, consistent tempo without the need for batteries; simply turn the key and let the rhythm begin. Its construction prioritizes durability and ease of use while maintaining the familiar visual language of traditional wooden metronomes. Marked by its clean lines and functional design, it sits comfortably between studio tool and understated decorative object.
Bell mechanism:
This metronome features an adjustable bell function that accents every 2, 3, 4, or 6 beats, providing a clear audible cue for practicing different time signatures. A video demonstrating the bell sound is available upon request.
This metronome is in very good cosmetic condition, showing minor signs of age and use consistent with its vintage nature. Please review the photos carefully for details. When tested at 208 BPM, a single winding lasts approximately 27 minutes, running with a steady and even tempo. The bell mechanism is fully functional as well. Basic cleaning has been completed, and the exterior has been gently polished to maintain its appearance.
When compared to modern electronic metronomes, it is not laboratory-precise, but it keeps time very closely and operates as expected for a vintage mechanical instrument. Minor variation is normal and part of the character of traditional wind-up metronomes. Noticeable defects are shown in the listing images.
